Contingency Management Plan
Last updated: December 20th, 2025
Forest Survey of India has established a Contingency Management Plan to ensure uninterrupted availability and timely recovery of its website https://fsi.nic.in in case of any technical failure, cyber incident, or natural disaster. The plan aims to minimize downtime, protect data integrity, and restore services as quickly as possible.
In the event of an unexpected disruption such as a server crash, system failure, cyberattack, or hardware malfunction immediate corrective measures are initiated by the designated Website Administrator in coordination with the Web Information Manager (WIM) and the IT support team. The affected systems are isolated, and root-cause analysis is performed to identify and eliminate the source of the problem.
Regular data backups are maintained to ensure data recovery in case of loss or corruption. Backup copies are stored securely in both onsite and offsite locations to provide redundancy. Restoration procedures are tested periodically to confirm their reliability and effectiveness.
If a cyber-incident occurs, the matter is reported immediately to the Cyber Security Division and relevant authorities, following established security protocols. During any major outage, an alternate communication channel is used to keep stakeholders and users informed about restoration progress.
All contingency measures, including hardware and software redundancy, data backup, and recovery procedures, are reviewed and updated periodically to align with the latest cybersecurity and disaster recovery best practices.
Through this Contingency Management Plan, FSI ensures the resilience, security, and continuity of its online services under all circumstances.
